Bar Botanique is a cozy neighborhood cafe in Amsterdam East with lots of green and a retro interior where you can go for a good breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks with friends, family or colleagues. Or just open your laptop and soak up some of the tropical vibes while working under a palm tree.
When i first walked in, my impression was like: Wow! This place became beautifull after the makeover that Studio Modijefsky brought to the former local Dutch café, De Ponteneur. I was surprised with the current, tropical like decor. It makes the whole atmosphere so warm, full of energy and cheerful. The high walls and ceilings are painted in a fresh emerald green color. The many plants and palms and the cozy vintage armchairs and seats picture perfectly with this bright green shade. The large bar in combination with banana trees is a real eye-catcher and the big mirrors make the space even more playful.
But whats on the card? On the menu you will find a mix of trendy meals and old-fashioned tasty sandwiches such as a pumpkin cream and parmesan cheese or burrata with mushrooms. A big streak sandwich, sandwiches with vegan croquettes and smoked salmon with deep-fried caper. In addition, a number of good options with egg, including the scrambled eggs with truffle and parmesan cheese and some thick croques and some nice salads. Good coffee, fresh ginger and healthy juices, tea. Gigantic cakes are displayed at the bar, including a delicious vegan chocolate cake, my fav carrot cake and of course an apple pie. The kitchen is Mediterranean / French but you can also order a quick bite and that can be just Melanzane di Parmigiana, a piranha steak with port sauce or a pizza Tartufo. With poached pineapple. Because it must of course remain a bit tropical.Eerste Van Swindenstraat 581, Amsterdam
